Your host Mahtub Zare Mochanloo is currently a Staff Writer on Season 2 of Netflix’s hit comedy NOBODY WANTS THIS. A first-generation Iranian-American, Mahtub's journey into entertainment includes working with Disney ABC TV Writing Program, WME, and producing at BallenStudios.  With her extensive industry experience and passion for storytelling, Mahtub is the perfect mentor to guide you through writing your romantic comedy screenplay!

In this interactive and immersive lab, you’ll develop your romantic comedy from a rough idea to a fully realized first draft. Each week, you’ll receive personalized feedback, structured lessons, and one-on-one consultations to help refine your story. You’ll learn how to craft memorable meet-cutes, develop engaging chemistry, and structure compelling conflicts that keep audiences invested. You’ll also gain insights into avoiding clichés while delivering satisfying romantic arcs, balancing humor and heart, and making your script commercially viable. By the end of the lab, you will have a completed first draft of your romantic comedy and a roadmap for revisions to make it production-ready!

This interactive Stage 32 lab is held on Zoom and goes substantially more in depth than a Stage 32 webinar. Best of all? As soon as you sign up you will be linked on email with Mahtub and given a questionnaire to fill out and send back to her. You will have access to her for the duration of your class by email to ask her any questions you have about your craft or career - it’s like having a mentor on demand! And, if you can't make a live session, don't worry! All class recordings will be available 48 hours after each session and you will be able to view them in your Library on your Stage 32 profile.
