You’ve written a great script that’s been getting high scores from professionals and festivals. Writing a great script isn’t enough anymore to find success in entertainment. You also need to have the right concept, executed in the right way. But trying to figure out how to do that on your own can be hard. What you think makes for a great story isn’t necessarily what the buyers are looking for and if you aren’t writing the kind of thing buyers want, you are going to have a hard time finding a producer to take on your project.

So how do you land on the right concept? And how do you also marry your voice as a writer to what the marketplace is looking for? That’s what we will cover in this exclusive Stage 32 screenwriting lab, offered for the first time ever!

Leading this Stage 32 screenwriting lab is Kate Sharp, a producer and literary manager at Bellevue Productions. She is producing THE BURNING SEASON with Naomi Watts and STRANGER THINGS’ Sophia Lillis. Prior to joining Bellevue, Kate was the VP of Development and Production at Occupant Entertainment, where she was the Executive Producer on the Hulu original, Emmy-nominated TV series BEHIND THE MASK. As a manager Kate will share what what is and is not selling and how you may be able to keep your vision and surprisingly package it in a way that meets the market. 

Over the course of 8 sessions, you’ll develop your feature film ideas from scratch. In Week 1, you’ll explore what types of projects are currently in demand, brainstorm new concepts, and start generating ideas. As the weeks progress, you’ll learn how to shape your concepts to fit your unique brand, nail the right tone, and incorporate meaningful themes. You’ll also have one-on-one consultations with Kate to get personalized feedback. By the end, you’ll have a fully developed treatment and a clearer vision for your next scipt. Each week, you’ll have the chance to ask questions and fine-tune your ideas with Kate’s guidance.
