Animation is one of the most creatively open corners of television right now. Adult comedy, heartfelt drama, the kind of 6–12 series that shaped a generation, preschool shows that teach while they entertain — there's room for your voice in all of them. But a great idea alone won't get you in the room. What gets you there is a pilot that proves you understand your format, your audience, and the world you're building — a script an executive can read and immediately see as a series. If you've had an animated show living in your head, this is your moment to get it on the page the right way.

Here's where many writers get stuck: they approach animation like live-action with drawings, and the script shows it. You may not be sure whether your idea is an 11-minute, half-hour, or hour-long show, who your target demographic really is, or whether your series should be episodic or serialized. Your world may not have clear rules yet, so it feels like a backdrop instead of a character. Your supporting and recurring characters may be an afterthought when they could be the most memorable part of your show. Maybe your jokes land with one audience but not a wider one, or your dramatic beats don't build the emotional arcs that keep viewers coming back episode after episode. And when you write alone, you often don't know your pilot is stalling in Act II — or what an executive will question the moment they finish reading — until it's too late.

That's why you'll want Evan Anglin in your corner. Evan is Co-Head of the Animation Department and a Literary Manager for live-action at Zero Gravity Management, whose credits include OZARK and THE ACCOUNTANT. He represents award-winning animation and crossover talent, including showrunners, feature writers and directors, supervising directors, board artists, character designers, and production companies and studios. He has held similar roles at Bold Management & Production, Partos Company, and Innovative Artists, and he's building his own producing credits with STEM NIGHT and THE PANIC, both in post-production. Most importantly for you, Evan has signed four writers off Stage 32 in less than six months — including writer Zoran Lisinac, whom he met through a Feature Read + 60 Minute Talk. Evan has been building this course for some time, so you're learning directly from someone who decides which writers he represents and knows exactly what makes an animated pilot stand out.

Over eight sessions, you'll take your animated pilot from first idea to polished draft. You'll start with Evan's Animation 360 Approach and your logline and beat sheet. From there, you'll build characters audiences fall in love with, set the rules of your world, and write your pilot act by act, with a one-on-one consultation along the way. You'll finish with a focused rewrite and a final individual project review over Zoom. Along the way, you'll study shows like BATMAN, PHINEAS AND FERB, BLUEY, BOJACK HORSEMAN, AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, and BOB'S BURGERS, whether you write comedy, drama, or preschool. You'll walk away with a completed animated pilot shaped by executive-level feedback, a clear sense of what professionals expect from the page, and a plan for your next steps: additional episodes, series materials, and your pitch.
