Storytelling in film is a global language. No matter what region you live in we all experience universal themes which appear in scripts, which is why, as we like to say at Stage 32, creativity is universal. One needs to look no further than the Oscar winning feature Parasite to see a film which was written to shine a light on the class differences of a certain culture, but, because of the relatability factors for all cultures, crossed over to become an international hit, including grossing (at this point) over $40MM in the U.S.

You have a script you've written that you love. Maybe you've submitted it to a film fund or a grant and didn't get chosen. Sure, it's frustrating that there are a limited number of scripts that can receive funding each year in your country, but that doesn't mean that your story shouldn't be told. Now is your time to start thinking outside the box and consider broadening the scope of your script to appeal to the U.S. and international markets. But, where do you start? We're here to help with that.

James Crawford has worked all over the world in the US, Canada, South America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and more. In this hands-on and interactive lab, James will help you analyze your script to see what elements you can polish to make it more appealing for the US market.

The lab will consist of 10 writers. Over the course of 8 weeks at the leadership of James every script will be analyzed and workshopped to make the material more compelling and marketable for a U.S., and even a global, audience. You will have weekly online classes and enter into a private online writers' group on Stage 32. You will also have private one-on-one Skypes with James to workshop your script. This is the first ever international online writers group lab of its kind offered by Stage 32 and, to ensure the best experience, spots are limited. 

This lab will help you expand the scope of your script and give it a better shot of attracting U.S. interest.
