An Award-Winning Short Filmmaker Teaches You How To Prepare To Ensure Your Short Film Is A Success

Get ready to rock your short film!

For most beginning filmmakers, making your first short film can be a daunting concept. From the creative elements of casting and making your shot list to the more logistical components of budgeting, scheduling, and finalizing agreements, producing a short film requires an immense attention to detail to get everything right. We know that making your short film a success can be challenging and we are here to help!

This 4-session interactive Stage 32 class will present you with no nonsense, step by step guide to self produce your short film to best set you up for success. You will learn how to best navigate pre-production and tackle the legal and budgetary documents to ensure your shoot goes smoothly and successfully.

Your instructor, Tash Ann, has produced and directed nine short films before joining Icon Media in 2020, where she produced 45 pieces of short-form content varying from narrative to documentary. Her web series pilot ABSTRACTION is currently making the festival rounds winning 22 awards to date with 10 other festival screenings on tap. Her first short, BIZARIA, aired at a Hollyshorts event at the TCL Chinese Theaters in Hollywood and was promptly licensed by ShortsTV, airing for 3 years on DirectTV.

Tash will share all that she's learned while making her short films - what you need to focus on and what you need to avoid - so that you can have the most successful experience on your own productions including:

  • Key elements on pre-production and scheduling to put your time into
  • The equipment, crew positions, and set language that you need to know before bringing anyone else onboard
  • What agreements you need completed before you shoot and what deal points to look out for in those deals
  • How to keep up morale through production...it's more important than you think!

At the end of this class, you will be ready to put your best foot forward and be most prepared to make your short film.

PLUS! Tash will provide you with a series of exclusive and helpful handouts to take with you to make sure you are on the right path for your short film's production! Downloads include:

  • Example Short Film Budget Template
  • Example Short Film Talent and Crew Memos

Praise For Tash Ann's Previous Stage 32 Education

"Tash Ann's class was great! She packed a lot of information into four classes and was very generous in sharing her experience and knowledge. She was open to questions whether in class or via email, and seemed to make everyone - no matter where they were as a filmmaker - feel comfortable and welcome. Really appreciated her and her class, and would be open to taking another class with her." - Louise B.

"Very generous, very thorough. Tash Ann was self effacing and charming, answering any and all questions. All of her written info was then available to be sent by email. 5 stars." - Patrick W.
