The Art Department on any production encompasses everything that you see on screen. It's a team of artists and professionals that supports the Production Designer whose mission is to bring the Director’s vision to life.

There was a time that everything you saw on the screen besides the actors was a thing that had to be acquired or created or repurposed for the production. Even the Costume Department is technically and fiscally under the purview of the Production Designer as costumes are considered part of the overall look and feel of the film. Each element has been created by or for the Production Designer and approved by the Director.

In today’s universe of heavy visual effects, the art department works hand-in-hand with Post Production and SFX to make sure that the physical world and the digital worlds are seamlessly interwoven.
